Why We Love Our Desk Buddy Ruler
We found this tool at our favorite sensory store that was local at the time we purchased it. I would have never known it had existed. This ruler is great for so many things. It can be placed on the edge of the desk/table, inside the desk (for discreetness), or can be put in a child’s lap. It is great for tactile input and keeping children alert and focused during a lesson. This too can be twisted, turned, and squeezed for more pressure and sensory input.
Description from the Manufacturer
If your child constantly fidgets in his or her desk, or at home while doing homework, the Desk Buddy Sensory Bar is is for them. A team of Occupational Therapist, School Teachers and product engineers, combined efforts to create this product for use both at home and in the classroom. For children who are constantly looking for different textures to touch or “fidget” with, the Desk Buddy is both practical and socially acceptable in a school setting. It is simply a ruler sitting on their desk. The desk buddy is constructed from an FDA approved material so its even safe to chew on if the need arrives. Completely dishwasher safe, and naturally bacteria resistant.
